Pneumococcal Vaccination for Older Adults:

In 2018, NCQA added a new pneumococcal measure that allows organizations to report using electronic data and more specifically aligns with ACIP.

New Additional Pneumococcal HEDIS Measure:

NCQA added the following pneumococcal measure: The percentage of members 65 years of age and older who have received the recommended series of pneumococcal vaccines: 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13) and 23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine ) PPSV23).

Existing Pneumococcal HEDIS Measure:

The CAHPS survey question is still current and valid. “Have you ever had one or more pneumonia shots? Two shots are usually given in a person’s lifetime and these are different from a flu shot. It is also called the pneumococcal vaccine.”
